Former AEW announcer and wrestlers sue Tony Khan and AEW for defamation and unpaid expenses

A new legal challenge has emerged in the wrestling world, this time involving All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Former AEW announcer Kevin Kelly and wrestlers Brandon and Brent Tate (known as The Boys in Ring of Honor) have filed a lawsuit against AEW, its owner Tony Khan, and announcer Ian Riccaboni. The case was submitted to the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas.

The lawsuit centers on allegations of defamation against the Tate brothers. They claim that after their release from AEW/Ring of Honor in March, Tony Khan publicly stated they had failed to show up for events. The Tates dispute this accusation and assert that they are owed money for travel expenses, royalties, and reimbursements. Furthermore, they argue that Khan’s comments have damaged their reputation, making it difficult for them to find work with other wrestling promotions since leaving AEW.
