Pennsylvania Governor’s Office Retracts Mistaken Announcement of WrestleMania 2026 in Philadelphia

A mix-up occurred when Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro mistakenly announced that WWE WrestleMania would return to Philadelphia in 2026. The governor included the event in a list of upcoming sporting events for the state, alongside the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, FIFA World Cup, and PGA Championship. This announcement came as a surprise to fans and WWE officials alike, especially since next year’s WrestleMania is scheduled for Las Vegas, with talks of future international venues.

The Governor’s office quickly retracted the statement, clarifying that WrestleMania’s inclusion was an error. Manuel Bonder, a spokesperson for Governor Shapiro, apologized for the confusion and expressed the state’s enthusiasm for hosting other major events in 2026. WWE sources reportedly expressed shock at the announcement, stating that while they constantly discuss potential event locations, no plans for a 2026 Philadelphia WrestleMania were in place.
