Daniel Garcia’s AEW Return Sparks Contract Speculation and Salary Concerns in Wrestling Industry

Daniel Garcia’s future in professional wrestling has been a topic of speculation recently. After being absent from AEW television since early July, Garcia made a surprise return at the All In event on August 25. He intervened in a match between MJF and Will Ospreay, setting up a confrontation with MJF at the upcoming All Out event on September 7.

While Garcia has not officially signed a new contract with AEW, sources suggest he is likely to stay with the promotion. WWE had reportedly made an offer to Garcia, which he considered seriously. However, insiders believe he has decided to remain with AEW. Tony Khan, AEW’s president, has not confirmed Garcia’s status, but those close to the wrestler expect him to continue with the company.

The situation has raised concerns in the wrestling industry about inflated salaries. WWE officials are reportedly unhappy with the high monetary value of AEW’s offer to Garcia, believing it exceeds his worth. This follows a similar situation with Swerve Strickland’s recent signing. There are worries that such high salaries could negatively impact the sport, and some caution that AEW should be careful with its spending, especially considering potential negotiations for a new media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery.
