Swerve Strickland has signed a new five-year contract with AEW, keeping him with the company until September 2029. The deal was finalized weeks before AEW All In but was officially signed during the event’s pre-show to create buzz. According to reports, this contract is one of the most lucrative in professional wrestling, rivaling those of top WWE stars like Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.

WWE reportedly attempted to sign both Strickland and Prince Nana as a package deal but was unsuccessful. They had also tried to acquire Strickland shortly after he initially joined AEW in 2022. Interestingly, WWE officials have expressed concern about the deal, viewing it as potentially harmful to the wrestling industry due to what they perceive as excessive spending on salaries by AEW’s Tony Khan.
