Bryan Danielson won the AEW World Championship at All In, defeating Swerve Strickland. However, reports indicate Danielson was initially reluctant to hold the title. AEW CEO Tony Khan convinced him to become champion, wanting the event to end with Danielson celebrating the win.

The main event between Strickland and Danielson was planned since April, contrary to rumors of a Strickland vs. Will Ospreay match. Ospreay, who is expected to headline Wembley Stadium in the future, won the AEW International Championship at the same event.

Danielson’s victory makes him the fourth wrestler to hold both WWE and AEW world titles. Earlier, he had expressed a desire not to hold titles in AEW, preferring to help elevate younger talent.

The match against Strickland had high stakes, with a stipulation that Danielson would retire if he lost. Danielson had previously mentioned considering retirement to spend more time with his family, especially his young children.
