Christian Cage Wins Casino Gauntlet at Wembley, Secures Future AEW World Title Shot
Christian Cage experienced a rollercoaster of events at Wembley Stadium. He initially lost his World Trios Championship in a ladder match alongside Nick Wayne and Killswitch. However, Cage rebounded in the Casino Gauntlet match, defeating 19 other competitors to earn a future AEW World Title shot.
The Casino Gauntlet featured notable participants, including Nigel McGuinness making his wrestling comeback and Ricochet debuting in AEW. Despite this strong competition, Cage secured victory by pinning Kyle O’Reilly after Killswitch delivered a chokeslam.
Cage’s win particularly upset Hangman Page, who had hoped to use the match as a path to challenge his rival, current AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland. Cage now holds the advantage of choosing when to cash in his title opportunity.
