In a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre expressed his disappointment with the ending of his 2022 Clash at the Castle match against then-Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

“Yeah, I genuinely hated it,” McIntyre stated. “It was the biggest moment and match of my life, up until it wasn’t. It was so perfect until it wasn’t.”

McIntyre described the build-up to the event as ideal, with the UK hosting a premium live event for the first time in 30 years, the electric atmosphere of the stadium, and the anticipation of facing Reigns, who was at the peak of his popularity.

“Hearing the crowd, hearing 100% in my corner, feeling like this is it, this is the night that it should happen,” McIntyre recalled. “Taking out the whole Bloodline and then Solo appears, the finish happens and just feeling the energy literally drain out the room. Feeling like everyone felt like they got stabbed through the freaking heart it was soul-crushing.”

McIntyre acknowledged the attempt to uplift the crowd by singing with Tyson Fury, but admitted it wasn’t enough to salvage the moment. “Sometimes even in football matches your team loses and you leave dejected, I should have just left how I felt, p**sed off.”

However, McIntyre ended the interview on a positive note, stating, “We’re going to fix that this Saturday, though.”
