The Outrunners’ Surprising Merchandise Success Sparks Debate on AEW’s Marketing Strategy

The Outrunners, consisting of Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd, have made a significant impact in AEW recently. They secured their first televised victory on “AEW Collision” and have surprisingly become one of the top merchandise sellers for the company. According to Wrestlenomics estimates, The Outrunners rank eighth in merchandise sales, surpassing even the current AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson and former champions Swerve Strickland and Samoa Joe.

However, this unexpected success has raised concerns among some wrestling observers. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter pointed out that The Outrunners’ high merchandise sales, along with those of artist Rob Schamberger, highlight a potential issue with AEW’s merchandising strategy. He suggested that established stars like Swerve Strickland, Jon Moxley, and Mercedes Mone could be selling more if given proper merchandise support. Despite these concerns, The Outrunners celebrated their achievements during a backstage segment on “AEW Rampage,” although their moment was cut short by an attack from Jon Moxley and Marina Schifer.
