Mick Foley has declared his match against Randy Orton at Backlash 2004 as his favorite of his entire career. The No Holds Barred Falls Count Anywhere match for the Intercontinental Championship is remembered for its extreme violence, featuring barbed wire, blood, and Orton landing on thumb tacks. Despite Orton retaining the title, Foley felt he helped elevate the young wrestler’s career, similar to how Sting and The Undertaker had done for him in the past.

Foley also mentioned his match with Shawn Michaels at In Your House: Mind Games as a close second favorite. While he considers the Michaels match his best personal performance, Foley believes the Orton bout gave him a satisfying late-career highlight. Interestingly, Michaels also views their match as one of his most underrated encounters.
