AEW All Out controversy: Extreme content sparks criticism amid rumors of new media deals

The recent AEW All Out event has sparked controversy due to its extreme content. The main event, a steel cage match between Swerve Strickland and “Hangman” Adam Page, featured shocking moments including a chair shot to the head and the use of a hypodermic needle. Additionally, another segment involved Jon Moxley nearly suffocating Bryan Danielson with a plastic bag.

Eric Bischoff, former WCW executive, has criticized these developments, calling them “garbage” and stating that AEW is creatively struggling. He believes that while the promotion may maintain its core fanbase, such content won’t lead to significant business growth. Bischoff argues that even if AEW secures more TV deals or renewals, it won’t fundamentally change their product or expand their audience.

Despite these criticisms, there are rumors that AEW is close to finalizing a new media rights deal with Warner Bros Discovery. There’s also speculation about a potential additional deal with Fox. However, Bischoff remains skeptical about AEW’s long-term prospects, suggesting that their current creative direction is not conducive to building a larger audience.
