WWE’s Zelina Vega Moved by Fan’s Tribute to Her Father, a 9/11 Victim, During Raw Match
During Monday Night Raw, WWE superstar Zelina Vega faced Shayna Baszler in her first match on the show since July. Although Vega lost the match, she experienced a touching moment before the bout when she noticed a fan holding a sign dedicated to her late father, Michael Trinidad. Trinidad tragically lost his life in the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001 when Vega was just 10 years old.
After the event, Vega took to social media to express her gratitude for the fan’s gesture. She shared that seeing her father’s name in the arena was an incredible experience and reminded her that he is always present in spirit when she performs. The fan who held the sign had the opportunity to meet Vega backstage following her match. This emotional moment recalls a 2018 WWE video in which Vega shared her personal story about the events of 9/11, including the final phone call her family received from her father on that fateful morning.
