WWE’s Sheamus Highlights the Real Physical Toll of Wrestling Despite Scripted Nature
Former WWE Champion Sheamus recently discussed the physical nature of professional wrestling on “The Pat McAfee Show.” Despite the scripted nature of wrestling, Sheamus emphasized the real toll it takes on performers’ bodies. He mentioned his intense matches with Drew McIntyre and GUNTHER, which left him with visible injuries, but expressed his love for this physically demanding aspect of wrestling.
Sheamus praised the high-intensity approach of his opponents, including a recent match with Pete Dunne on WWE Raw. He highlighted how wrestlers can “go full tilt” when facing him, knowing he won’t complain about the physicality. The August 19 match between Sheamus and Dunne showcased this intensity, with Dunne delivering powerful chops and submissions before Sheamus ultimately won with his signature Brogue Kick.
At 46 years old, Sheamus continues to be a formidable presence in WWE. Since joining the company in 2007, he has captured four world titles and consistently faced top competitors. His comments reflect a career-long commitment to hard-hitting, physically demanding matches that push both himself and his opponents to their limits.
