WWE moves to secure top talent amid AEW competition and potential new TV deal
The wrestling world has been marked by significant talent movement between WWE and AEW in 2024, with the competition between the two companies expected to intensify. Reports suggest AEW may secure a lucrative TV rights deal with Warner Brothers Discovery, prompting WWE to take proactive measures to retain its top performers.
In response, WWE has reportedly approached several key talents, including Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, and Nia Jax, about signing long-term contract extensions. This strategy extends to other unnamed wrestlers as well, even those with substantial time remaining on their current contracts. Jax, who returned to WWE in 2023, has had a stellar year, winning the Queen of the Ring tournament and the WWE Women’s Championship. She’s currently involved in a storyline with Tiffany Stratton, who holds the Money in the Bank briefcase.
The rivalry between Morgan and Ripley has been a central focus on Raw. Morgan captured the Women’s World Title after Ripley vacated it and subsequently turned Ripley’s stable, the Judgment Day, against her. The two are set to clash again at the upcoming Bad Blood event, where Ripley will attempt to reclaim the title and avenge her SummerSlam defeat.
