WWE Files Trademark for Giulia’s Name as Company Shifts Policy on Wrestler Personas
WWE has recently been allowing wrestlers to keep their personas from other promotions, a change from previous practices. Notable examples include Jade Cargill, Ethan Page, and Giulia, who made her NXT debut at No Mercy using her well-known name from STARDOM and Marigold promotions.
In a move to secure Giulia’s brand, WWE has filed a trademark application for her name with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This application, currently under review, is for “entertainment services” related to professional wrestling. Giulia has been using this name since her 2017 debut with Ice Ribbon, but it’s unclear if she would retain rights to it if she were to leave WWE in the future. Following her NXT debut, Giulia has already made waves by challenging NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez to a title match, scheduled for October 1 during NXT’s first episode on The CW network.
