Samoa Joe Reveals Origins of Alliance with Shibata and HOOK, Discusses Mentoring Young Talent in AEW
Samoa Joe recently discussed his alliance with Katsuyori Shibata and HOOK during a Q&A session at “Terrificon.” After losing the AEW World Championship to Swerve Strickland, Joe joined forces with Shibata and HOOK to challenge Chris Jericho’s “Learning Tree.” However, Joe was written off TV when Jericho drove him through a wall with a forklift, allowing Joe to film the second season of “Twisted Metal.”
Joe explained that the alliance came about through discussions with HOOK, Shibata, and AEW president Tony Khan. He wanted to showcase more of HOOK and Shibata’s personalities and capabilities. Interestingly, Joe revealed that he first met HOOK as a child when working with Taz in TNA Wrestling, though he didn’t realize HOOK was Taz’s son until later. Joe expressed his enjoyment in seeing HOOK grow into a fully-fledged wrestler and his willingness to help young talents in the industry.
