Sammy Guevara Suspended for Defying Doctor’s Orders in Match Against Jeff Hardy, Leading to AEW Exit for Hardys
Sammy Guevara received a suspension from AEW earlier this year for breaking concussion protocol during a match against Jeff Hardy. Matt Hardy, Jeff’s brother, shared details about the incident on his podcast. According to Matt, the AEW doctor instructed Guevara to immediately pin Jeff after he started bleeding, but Guevara instead performed his finisher before pinning him. This action was seen as defying orders, leading to Guevara’s suspension.
The match was intended to push the Hardy brothers towards a heel turn they had planned with AEW owner Tony Khan. However, it ended up being their last appearance in AEW as their contracts expired shortly after. The Hardy Boyz subsequently returned to TNA Wrestling in June for their third run with the promotion. Meanwhile, Guevara has since returned to action, first appearing in Ring of Honor in July before rejoining AEW in August. He recently participated in the pre-show of AEW All In 2024.
