Nigel McGuinness Returns to Ring After 12 Years at AEW All In, Receives Huge Hometown Ovation
Nigel McGuinness made a surprising return to the ring after 12 years at AEW All In 2024, receiving a huge ovation in his hometown. Tony Khan confirmed that McGuinness will continue his role as a commentator for AEW events, praising his work on AEW Collision and at All In.
Khan shared his personal history as a wrestling fan, recalling how he first discovered McGuinness and Bryan Danielson through trading indie wrestling DVDs in college. He expressed admiration for both performers and their chemistry together.
The AEW president also revealed that he used to include McGuinness in fantasy wrestling shows he created years ago, even imagining a match between McGuinness and Bret Hart at Wembley Stadium. Khan emphasized that McGuinness’ comeback needed to be something special and meaningful, which is why it took place at such a significant event.
During the event, Christian Cage hit McGuinness with a spear, which Khan described as a shocking moment, especially considering McGuinness’ known admiration for Cage.
