Netflix Unveils Trailer for “Mr. McMahon” Docuseries, Exploring WWE CEO’s Controversial Career
Netflix has released the first trailer for “Mr. McMahon,” an upcoming docuseries about the former WWE CEO’s career in professional wrestling. The series will cover McMahon’s purchase of WWE from his father, his on-screen persona, and controversial events like the Chris Benoit tragedy and the sexual misconduct scandal that led to McMahon’s resignation. The trailer features interviews with wrestling stars such as Triple H, The Rock, Hulk Hogan, and John Cena.
It appears that McMahon’s interview segments were filmed before the 2022 sexual misconduct allegations came to light. While WWE was initially involved in the production, they have since stated they have no official role in the series. Despite this, WWE and Netflix maintain a close partnership, with “WWE Raw” set to begin streaming live on Netflix in early 2025. This deal could potentially last between 5 to 20 years, marking a significant shift for WWE programming from traditional television to streaming platforms.
