Matt Hardy criticizes AEW’s focus on individual stars, claims tag team division has been neglected
AEW’s tag team division, once considered the best in professional wrestling, has faced criticism for losing its shine. This was highlighted when FTR and The Young Bucks competed for the World Tag Team Championship at All In for the second consecutive year.
Matt Hardy, a tag team wrestling legend now with TNA, shared his thoughts on why AEW’s tag teams have received less TV time. He believes the company has prioritized building individual stars and creating buzzworthy moments, causing the tag team scene to take a backseat.
Hardy also pointed out that AEW needs to improve on maintaining momentum for its talent across all divisions. He stressed the importance of following through when a wrestler starts gaining traction with the audience.
At All In, The Young Bucks successfully defended their AEW World Tag Team Titles, cementing their status as the only three-time champions in this category. However, the appearance of former NXT UK Tag Team Champions, The Grizzled Young Veterans, suggests a potential shake-up in AEW’s tag team landscape.
