Kevin Owens reveals role in Cody Rhodes’ post-WWE career and AEW’s formation
The upcoming Undisputed WWE Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens at Bash in Berlin has an interesting backstory. Initially, Owens was reluctant to fight his close friend Rhodes, which led to questions about whether he deserved the match. However, their history goes beyond their recent encounters with The Bloodline and played a role in the creation of All Elite Wrestling.
In a recent interview, Owens discussed how he helped Rhodes transition to the independent wrestling scene after leaving WWE in 2016. Owens introduced Rhodes to The Young Bucks, believing they would help him adjust to the different style of independent wrestling. This connection proved successful, as Rhodes hit it off with The Young Bucks. Owens explained that his goal was to give Rhodes the best possible introduction to the independent scene, which is very different from WWE.
