Jon Moxley’s AEW absence continues, spotted at indie event amid UK tour
Jon Moxley, a former AEW World Champion, was notably absent from AEW’s recent events in the United Kingdom, including the All In show and the overseas debuts of Dynamite and Collision in Cardiff, Wales. Moxley has been on an extended break from AEW since June when he lost the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship to Tetsuya Naito at the Forbidden Door event.
While away from AEW, Moxley was spotted backstage at Wrestling REVOLVER events in Dayton, Ohio on August 24. This indie promotion has a special connection to Moxley, as it’s owned and operated by his friend and former tag team partner, Sami Callihan. Despite his appearance at these local events, there’s currently no information about when Moxley will return to AEW or step back into the ring for the company.
Moxley’s current break comes after a busy period in AEW. He was originally scheduled to take time off after losing the AEW World Championship to CM Punk at the 2022 All Out event. However, due to Punk’s injury and the infamous “Brawl Out” incident that followed, Moxley ended up continuing to wrestle regularly for AEW until spring 2024.
