Joe Tessitore debuts as WWE Raw commentator, receives praise from former star Nic Nemeth
Joe Tessitore made his debut as the new play-by-play commentator on WWE Raw, joining Wade Barrett on color commentary. This change comes as Pat McAfee takes a break to return to ESPN’s College GameDay for the rest of 2024. Former WWE star Nic Nemeth, also known as Dolph Ziggler, shared his thoughts on Tessitore’s performance.
Nemeth praised Tessitore’s commentary style, saying it made WWE feel like a legitimate sport. He compared the experience to watching Sunday Night Baseball or a playoff game, appreciating the emotion and storytelling in Tessitore’s voice. However, Nemeth also noted some unconventional choices made by Tessitore, such as immediately identifying a hooded attacker as Drew McIntyre instead of feigning uncertainty as WWE commentators typically do. While Nemeth personally enjoyed this deviation from traditional wrestling commentary norms, he acknowledged that others might view it differently.
