Joe Hendry falls short in NXT Championship bid, faces mockery from rival Josh Alexander
Joe Hendry’s attempt to capture the NXT Championship from Ethan Page at NXT No Mercy on September 1 ended in disappointment. Despite fan support at the Bell Arena in Denver, Colorado, Hendry lost the main event match, which featured Trick Williams as the special guest referee. This defeat meant Hendry would return to TNA Wrestling without the coveted title.
Not everyone in the wrestling world was sympathetic to Hendry’s loss. Josh Alexander, a former TNA World Champion and ex-tag team partner of Page, took to social media to mock Hendry’s failure. Alexander, who has his own rivalry with Hendry in TNA, reminded him of their previous encounter at Slammiversary where he eliminated Hendry from a championship match. Interestingly, Alexander himself recently fell short in his own title pursuit, losing a 60-minute Iron Man match against Nic Nemeth at TNA’s Emergence event.
While Hendry’s immediate future remains uncertain, he is expected to return to TNA Wrestling. The ongoing partnership between NXT and TNA suggests that future crossover appearances are possible. This collaboration was evident in the recent “TNA Impact” tapings in Louisville, Kentucky, indicating that fans may see more interactions between the two promotions in the future.
Congrats.
You failed yourself & the entire @ThisIsTNA locker room you were representing. 😂
See ya back on Thursdays. ✌️ pic.twitter.com/1gXJvFS5ad
