Jinder Mahal Opens Up About WWE Release: “It Wasn’t Unexpected”
Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal was released from WWE in April and has returned to independent wrestling as Raj Dhesi. In a recent interview, Mahal revealed that his release wasn’t unexpected.
Mahal explained that he had become stale in WWE and wasn’t being used much creatively. The company had even told him he was no longer considered an active wrestler. Not being booked for WrestleMania left him feeling depressed and frustrated.
This wasn’t Mahal’s first WWE release. He was also let go in 2014 when he was part of the 3MB group with Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater. At that time, Mahal admits they weren’t taking their careers seriously enough and were partying too much.
Mahal’s perspective on being released has changed over the years. When he was first let go at age 27, he felt lost. Now, at 37, he seems more accepting of the situation and ready for the next chapter in his career.
