JBL Reveals Why He Stopped Agenting Sami Zayn’s Matches, Praises Zayn’s WrestleMania 36 Performance
Former WWE Champion JBL recently shared his experience as a match agent, particularly focusing on his brief stint working with Sami Zayn. Despite praising Zayn as one of the best characters he’s ever seen, JBL admitted that their different approaches to match planning led him to step away from agenting Zayn’s matches. JBL typically prefers a simpler approach, needing only match time and finish, while Zayn’s style is more intricate.
JBL recounted a memorable incident from WrestleMania 36, where Zayn’s performance against Bryan Danielson in a crowd-less environment impressed him. Zayn’s vocal reactions and emotional display during the match, which included screaming and crying, added a unique element that JBL found brilliant. This match, which Zayn won while retaining his Intercontinental Championship, showcased how different approaches can still create wrestling magic.
Zayn’s career has continued to flourish, with notable achievements including main-eventing WrestleMania 39 with Kevin Owens and winning the Intercontinental Championship from Gunther at a subsequent WrestleMania. Meanwhile, JBL, despite his reservations about agenting, remains active in the wrestling world, making appearances in various promotions such as GCW, AAA, TNA, and MLW.
