Insane Clown Posse’s Violent J recalls WWE debut and surreal locker room experience with wrestling legends
In the late 1990s, the hip-hop duo Insane Clown Posse (ICP) made a splash in professional wrestling, appearing in both WWE (then WWF) and WCW. Violent J, one half of ICP, recently shared his experiences from that time on the “Kliq This” podcast. He mentioned that they had an enjoyable time in both promotions, particularly in WCW.
Violent J revealed that WWE reached out to them after their first platinum record, unaware that the duo could actually wrestle. This led to their WWE debut at SummerSlam, a major event in the wrestling calendar. Before their debut, ICP flew to Stamford, Connecticut, where they demonstrated their wrestling abilities. The experience was surreal for the duo, as they found themselves sharing a locker room with wrestling legends like The Undertaker and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, who were preparing for the main event that night.
