Former WWE Writer Praises AEW’s Execution of Casino Gauntlet Match at All In
The Casino Gauntlet match at AEW All In featured top stars like “Hangman” Adam Page and Kazuchika Okada, along with surprise appearances from Ricochet, Zack Sabre Jr., and Nigel McGuinness. Former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. shared his thoughts on the match, admitting that while he’s never been a fan of the Casino Gauntlet concept, AEW executed it well at this event.
Prinze Jr. explained his previous skepticism about the match format, questioning how wrestlers could effectively tell a story and get themselves over in such a short, unpredictable timeframe. However, he was impressed with this particular iteration, noting that all participants managed to tell a story and the commentary team was well-prepared to highlight each wrestler’s narrative. He also praised the inclusion of Nigel McGuinness in the match, citing his rivalry with Bryan Danielson as a smart storytelling element.
Despite initially expecting “Hangman” Adam Page to win, Christian Cage emerged victorious in the Casino Gauntlet. As a result, Cage earned a future opportunity to challenge for the AEW World Championship.
