Chris Jericho Dismisses Retirement Calls, Defends AEW Role and “Learning Tree” Gimmick
Chris Jericho, a former AEW World Champion, has responded to criticism of his current “Learning Tree” gimmick in AEW. Despite some fans calling for his retirement, Jericho remains unfazed by the negative feedback.
In an interview with “Daily Star,” Jericho explained that he doesn’t care about the criticism, noting that fan opinions change over time. He pointed out that the same people asking him to retire now were praising him as one of the greatest wrestlers of his generation just three years ago.
Jericho emphasized that he continues to be featured on AEW shows because he draws ratings. He claimed that 80% of the time, his segments are among the biggest gainers on the show. He attributed the negative narrative to a few critics and their followers.
Defending his value to AEW, Jericho countered the perception that he’s only interested in burying talent. He highlighted his role in helping build characters like Daniel Garcia, Sammy Guevara, Big Bill, and Brian Keith.
Overall, Jericho remains confident in his position within AEW and dismisses the criticism as part of the cyclical nature of fan opinions in professional wrestling.
