Buffalo Bills Waive Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson After Brief NFL Stint
Gable Steveson, a former NCAA champion and Olympic gold medalist, has faced another setback in his professional career. After being released by WWE earlier this year, Steveson attempted to transition into professional football with the Buffalo Bills. However, the Bills have now decided to waive Steveson, meaning he won’t be part of their 52-man roster for the upcoming season.
Despite this setback, Steveson’s NFL journey may not be over. As a developmental prospect, he could potentially join another team or return to the Bills as a member of their practice squad. Steveson, who had never played football before joining the Bills, was positioned as a defensive end but struggled to make an impact during the preseason, recording only one tackle and no sacks in limited playing time.
This latest development adds to a challenging summer for Steveson and his family. His brother, Bobby Steveson (known as Damon Kemp in WWE NXT), was also released from WWE in July when his contract was not renewed. As of now, neither Steveson brother has secured a new position in professional wrestling or other sports.
