AEW stars continue to shine in CMLL as Orange Cassidy set for Mexican debut at 91st Anniversary show
CMLL, a Mexican wrestling promotion, has become a popular destination for AEW wrestlers in recent months. Several AEW stars have competed in Arena Mexico, including Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, and Claudio Castagnoli. The trend continues with Orange Cassidy set to make his Mexican debut at CMLL’s 91st Anniversary show on September 13. Cassidy will team up with Rocky Romero and Satoshi Kojima to face Atlantis Jr., Volador Jr., and Ultimo Guerrero in a six-man tag team match.
The Anniversary show will feature a strong AEW presence, with Chris Jericho also scheduled to compete in his first Arena Mexico match since the 1990s against CMLL star Mistico. While this will be Cassidy’s first match in Mexico, he is no stranger to international competition, having wrestled in Japan, England, and Germany. Interestingly, Cassidy has prior experience with lucha libre style wrestling, having been trained by luchador Skayde during his time in the independent promotion CHIKARA. It’s worth noting that AEW star Willow Nightingale is the current CMLL World Women’s Champion, although her participation in the Anniversary show has not been confirmed.
