AEW star Jamie Hayter returns after 15-month hiatus, opens up about challenging recovery
Jamie Hayter, a star in AEW, has made a comeback after a 15-month absence due to two herniated discs in her back. Her return took place at All In at Wembley Stadium, following her last match against Toni Storm at Double Or Nothing 2023, where she lost the AEW Women’s Title. In a recent interview, Hayter opened up about her challenging time away from wrestling.
Hayter described her recovery period as lonely and uncomfortable, requiring significant inner work. She compared it to her experience during the pandemic when she was struggling financially in the UK and longing to be part of AEW. Initially, Hayter thought she was dealing with sciatica and continued to wrestle and work out. However, after a skydiving experience on her birthday, she realized the injury was more severe, eventually affecting her ability to walk. Throughout her recovery, Hayter underwent therapy but did not require surgery.
