AEW Commentator Nigel McGuinness Makes Surprise In-Ring Return After 13-Year Hiatus at All In 2024
Nigel McGuinness, an AEW commentator, made a surprising return to in-ring action at the 2024 AEW All In pay-per-view. He entered the Casino Gauntlet match as the third participant, competing for a future AEW World Championship opportunity.
During the match, McGuinness faced off against several opponents, including AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada and former International Champion Orange Cassidy. He showcased his skills by performing signature moves like the Tower of London and his powerful lariat.
McGuinness’s last wrestling match was in December 2011 at an APWA event. He had retired due to health issues and his release from TNA Wrestling, transitioning to a broadcasting career. However, he recently expressed interest in returning to the ring, particularly for a match against his long-time rival Bryan Danielson.
Although McGuinness didn’t win the Casino Gauntlet match (Christian Cage emerged victorious), his unexpected return after more than a decade away from in-ring competition generated significant excitement. The possibility of a future match between McGuinness and Danielson, who is set to face Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship, remains an intriguing prospect for wrestling fans.
