Adam Page reflects on AEW World Championship journey, reveals struggles with self-doubt and rivalry with Strickland
Nearly three years ago, “Hangman” Adam Page won the AEW World Championship by defeating Kenny Omega at Full Gear 2021. This victory is considered one of the most celebrated in AEW history. Page successfully defended his title against notable opponents like Bryan Danielson, Lance Archer, and Adam Cole.
In a recent interview, Page revealed that during his journey to the championship, he struggled with self-doubt. He admitted to telling himself lies, such as believing he wasn’t good enough and would never win the title. After winning, he hoped to hold the championship forever, but this too proved to be untrue.
Earlier this year, Page had an opportunity to reclaim the AEW World Championship in a three-way match at Revolution. However, he was unsuccessful, with the match also including then-champion Samoa Joe and current champion Swerve Strickland. Page now harbors strong feelings against Strickland, aiming to not only make him miserable but also remove him entirely from AEW.
