John Cena recently announced his plans to retire from in-ring competition at the end of 2025, with a farewell tour set to begin in January. In response to this news, Dave Bautista, one of Cena’s former rivals, shared his thoughts on the matter during an appearance on the “Insight” podcast.

Bautista expressed his respect for Cena but highlighted their differences in approach to retirement. He explained that he wouldn’t feel comfortable doing a farewell tour, viewing it as potentially disingenuous. Bautista emphasized that he preferred a low-key retirement, having announced his own departure from wrestling via Instagram without fanfare. He admitted that the idea of making appearances or preparing speeches for a retirement tour would have felt false to him.

The former wrestler also addressed the perceived rivalry between himself and Cena, suggesting that it was largely a creation of fans and the internet rather than a real-life conflict. Bautista clarified that he gets along with Cena and respects him more than people might assume, despite their different approaches to ending their wrestling careers.
